ITV Emmerdale fans outraged at Eric Pollard as he's knocked unconscious

Fans were outraged as Eric Pollard was knocked unconscious on tonight's Emmerdale.

Samson has been trying to worm his way into baby Esther's life after previously saying he wanted nothing to do with her - but it turned out in tonight's episode that he actually had an ulterior motive all along as he continued to step on Noah's toes.

Noah has been there for the mother of the child, Amelia, since day one after Samson said he didn't want to be a dad. Noah started to become suspicious when Samson suddenly had a change of heart and agreed to mind Esther after his dad Sam volunteered for the job, wanting the family to become more involved.

But Noah was thrown when Samson tried to manipulate him into offering a pay off from his trust fund to keep away from Esther. Reluctantly, Noah agreed to a pay out, offering him two grand to keep away from Amelia and Esther.

Elsewhere, Sam was trying his best to help provide for his granddaughter and wished they could do more financially. He told Cain of his troubles who advised him to "think outside the box" since he is a Dingle.

Turning to crime, as Dingles usually do, Sam later tried to distract shop owner Pollard as he stole a few baby items but the shopkeeper soon caught on and chased after a panicked Sam.

But things only went from bad to worse as Pollard tripped over some buckets and fell over, banging his head as he hit the ground. Horrified, Sam watched on as the businessman lay on the floor unconscious.

David spotted what was happening on his way home from court and went rushing over to his dad as Amelia and Noah watched on and told him that Pollard had been chasing Sam. Immediately, David got on the phone to the police.

When Pollard regained consciousness a police officer told him there was enough evidence to charge Sam with theft, but the ball was in his court. Soon enough Sam was hauled to the station arrested for theft and assault as Pollard made his decision.

But fans were outraged with Pollard's decision and shared their thoughts on Twitter. Jamal said: "Pollard, you're no Angel. You're one of the biggest con artists in the Village. Then again Sam, what if he didn't get up from that fall. Forget friendship, David would definitely see to it that you don't get an easy ride. #emmerdale."

Teri said: "Eric would never press charges on Sam. Wtf is this? #emmerdale." Meanwhile, Paul said: "Absolutely shocking story here, again ignoring the backstory of Eric and Sam, rewriting and ruining storylines to fill an hour slot. #Emmerdale."
