ITV Emmerdale fans heartbroken as village pays tribute to dead character

Residents of Emmerdale village remembered Liv Flaherty on what should have been her 21st birthday.

The character, played by Isobel Steele, was written out of the ITV soap last year when she was crushed by a caravan in a deadly storm. Her devastating end came not long after she tied the knot with husband Vinny Dingle, played by Bradley Johnson, leaving him devastated by the sudden loss.

Vinny has been reeling since her death and even developed a gambling addiction. Now her birthday is bringing a whole new range of emotions for the character.

Tonight's episode showed some of the Dingles come together to mark Liv's 21st with a surprise celebration showing Vinny that she isn't forgotten. Vinny felt touched by the gesture as Mandy unveiled a cake and they all raised a glass.

Fans watching from home felt emotional over the scene as they remembered the character fondly. On Twitter, Rosie said: "Celebrating Liv’s 21st birthday #Emmerdale" followed by a heartbroken emoji. Another user added: "Aw Liv. Sobbing at that cake. #Emmerdale."

But others thought she would have enjoyed something else rather than a cake. Dion said: "I’m sure Liv would have preferred a bottle of vodka #Emmerdale." Sophie added: "Forget the cake luv, for Liv's memory it's VODKA time #emmerdale."
