Fans of Emmerdale were "heartbroken" as Faith Dingle refused further treatment for her cancer in tonight's episode - confirming the illness would eventually take her life.
Faith, played by Sally Dexter, was accompanied to her scan results appointment by her daughter Chas, but emotional scenes ensued when the doctor told her the cancer had spread. The doctor said: "The cancer has spread deeper into your lungs and your bones."
Faith was crestfallen as she said: "Right, that's a beggar." Chas, played by Lucy Pargeter, held back tears as she asked about further treatments.

But Faith didn't seem keen. She said: "But it won't cure me will it? It'll just make me feel more rotten." She added: "It's not what I call living." Eventually she made a decision as she said: "No, I've decided. There'll be no more chemo."
Chas was heartbroken as she begged her mum to change her mind. She said: "Now is not the time to give up." Faith replied: "I'm not giving up love. I'm grabbing life... or at least what's left of the best of it anyway."
The mum and daughter ended up in floods of tears as they both failed to agree with each others opinions. The nurse agreed to start palliative care for Faith and Chas grasped her in a hug as they cried together.
Fans at home on Twitter also became upset as they watched the emotional scenes. One user said: "#emmerdale Oh Faith you break my heart."
Michelle said: "Sally Dexter is just incredible. If she doesn't get any awards at the Soap Awards next year then somethings wrong. This Faith storyline is heartbreaking. #Emmerdale #SallyDexter x" Jordan said: "I still hate that #Emmerdale are killing Faith off. Sally Dexter has been brilliant in this storyline so far, she will most definitely be missed."
Another user said: "Faith and Chas. Such emotional scenes, Lucy Pargeter and Sally Dexter are absolutely incredible actresses and I am going to miss Faith so so much #emmerdale."
