Emmerdale fans have made it clear how they feel about Faith Dingle's exit from the soap after she was told her cancer has returned. Viewers of the ITV soap know that Faith battled breast cancer in the past and underwent a double mastectomy.
But back in May, the Dingle matriarch, played by Sally Dexter, was told the devastating news that she has secondary cancer, when cancer has spread from where it started to another part of the body. And fans watched as she confided in daughter-in-law Moira Barton as she felt she had nowhere to turn due to the tensions between her and her children, Chas and Cain.
Since then, Chas and Cain have discovered the truth about their mum's ill health. And in heartbreaking scenes, Faith decided she didn't want to continue treatment to potentially prolong her life following her terminal diagnosis. While her daughter has struggled to come to terms with the impending loss of her mum, fans have watched Cain start to build bridges after years of resentment towards the mum who abandoned him as a child.
But her diagnosis hasn't stopped her from getting into mischief as Emmerdale viewers have witnessed this week. Earlier this week they saw Chas left suspicious when glammed up Faith heads out with Nate. Faith remained tight-lipped when and intrigued Nate questioned what she is getting him involved in.
Outside an 'anonymous' house, Nate was left uneasy when Faith explained her plan to take back something that belongs to her from her stepdaughter's home. In typical Faith fashion, she blags her way inside Angus' house despite his reservations at the door. But soon Angus is outraged when he figures out who Faith really is and demands she leaves.
During Wednesday night's trip to the Dale, Faith wasn't backing down and when Nate refused to help his grandmother as she planned to go back to Angus' home, she once again took matters into her own hands, stealing Nate's car and driving off to retrieve what she believes is hers.
Later, Angus is bamboozled when a disguised Faith turns up claiming to be a photographer for a real estate agent. Faith has a eureka moment when he lets her in. But soon, Cain and Nate can't believe their eyes when they see Faith darting out of Angus' with a stolen bag.
They're soon sticking up for her and back at Cain and Moira's, Faith reflected on a good day's work as she finally revealed what it was she wanted. And Chas, Cain and Nate were chuffed with the box of memories she’s stolen back, leading to Cain and Chas reminiscing about their childhood as they search through the various belongings.
And Emmerdale fans couldn't help but point out a very rare thing to happen during the family scenes. @kartingali commented: "How lovely to see Cain laughing. Needs to happen more." @lizjrobertson said: "Enjoyed seeing Cain laughing and happy." @paulae67 wrote: "Cain....actually laughing....a sight to behold!"
@foyjulie echoed: "A genuine smile from Cain!!" @jud8070 shared: "Fabulous never seen Cain laugh so much." @tracyclarke22 added: "Don't think I've seen Caine smile/laugh before."
But Faith's impending exit is still upsetting to fans and they want it to be changed. @denisesullens said: "A travesty one of Emmerdales best loved characters is being written out. Great family dynamic adding so many emotions to the programme." @sophdean92 wrote: "Killinh Faith off is the biggest mistake you'll make. Can't se go abroad for trial treatment that works or something? She's the best actres you have."
@no.13_not_a_house_but_a_home shared: "Brillaint episode. Change your storyline with Faith. She is great. Send her to America for some fab teatement and she can stay in Emmerdale. One of the best characters by far."
