ITV Doc Martin fans are saying the same thing over the series' final episode

Doc Martin has finally aired its final episode after 18 years. The ITV series, which sees actor Martin Clunes in the titular role, tells the story of GP Martin Ellingham who has moved to Cornwall from London. Whilst in his new home, 'Doc Martin' uses his medical excellence to help the locals of the fictional seaside village of Portwenn.

Doc Martin's final episode aired on Christmas Day and saw the Doc have Portwenn's grotto closed down because he feared that Santa has something contagious, upsetting the children, including his own son James. With a big job on its hands, how did the final episode shape up with viewers?

It of course saw Louisa, Caroline Catz, trying to save the day, some mince pie-related drama and a Christmas tree fire.

Whilst some people thought that Doc Martin's final episode was the "perfect" way to round off the show, others had a more negative opinion of the Christmas special. Read on to hear what people had to say.

Elsewhere, a third person blamed the writers and said: "The writers of Doc Martin are on crack." And a fourth person wrote: "Absolutely appalled at the ending of Doc Martin."
