ITV Dancing on Ice slapped with official complaints after 'too sexy' scenes

The brand new series only kicked off at the weekend but Dancing on Ice has already been slapped by complaints. The first episode of the ITV skating series on Sunday (January 15) saw the first six celebrities in their debut performances.

Former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, The Wanted's Siva Kaneswaran, reality star Joey Essex and Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton all took to the ice first alongside their skating partners - Matt Evers, Brendyn Hatfield, Olivia Smart, Klabera Komini, Vanessa Bauer and Lukasz Rozycki.

Viewers did get a brief taste of the whole group in action with a spectacular opening routine with the show's professional skaters. However, it won't be until this Sunday that fans get to see how Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher, drag queen The Vivienne, comedian Darren Harriott, and West End star and former Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson fare on the ice.

The first episode saw Ekin-Su left in danger of going home after a public vote landed her in the dance-off. The judges were thrilled by the Love Island winner, 28, and her professional partner Brendyn's steamy routine to Britney Spears’ Toxic – but they were disappointed by her skating ability.

Ekin and Brendyn scored 21.5 points from the judges, which was not the lowest score on Sunday night, as the first group of skaters took to the ice in ITV’s split premiere. However, combined with the public voting for their favourites at home, she ended up at the bottom and will now face one of five celebrities who will compete next week.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse said she "loved" Ekin's performance as it was "hot, hot, hot – from the outfit to the make-up". And while Olympian skating legend Jayne Torvill agreed it was a "sexy" performance, she said: "I want more skating."

And fans were equally stunned by the peformance - particularly her sexy display which was deemed 'too sexy' for the family show. @EnfieldGarry who said: "Not an outfit for a family show, shame you on Ekin Su." @Dia_Monty grumbled: "Oh come on. It's week one. Ekin Sue your not going to get more points for the lack of outfit!"

@suttylass exclaimed: "Ekin hell. Bit much at this time of night." @julianhilaire joked: "I'm calling OFCOM about Ekin Su performance. Not the sexual content but the lack of skating."

But it appears it wasn't a joke as the show has been slapped with 112 Ofcom complaints. The broadcasting watchdog confirmed the number of complaints on Wednesday (January 18) and confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that they were all related to Ekin Su's performance and outfit.

Wardrobe picked out the outfit as it was designed to be a replica of what popstar Britney wore in the Toxic music video, and it was in fact a full fabric jumpsuit. And while some didn't agree with Ekin's performance, others were applauding the reality star. @LoveRealityTV4 marvelled: "Ekin Su doing the Terrance crawl live on #Dancingonice." @Miss_Lauren_86 tweeted: "Not Ekin crawling again." And @bricklyrspice said: "Obsessed with Ekin Su recreating this skating to Toxic."
