Dancing on Ice fans have again pleaded with those in charge of the show as the second episode of the series aired. Week two of the competition got underway on Sunday night (January 22) with the remaining five celebrities lined-up to take part in the 2023 series taking to the ice for the first time.
Opening the show was RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vivienne, who made history by becoming the first drag queen to compete on the ITV skating competition. The 30-year-old channelled their diva icon as they and their dance partner Colin Grafton delivered an energetic performance to Strong Enough by Cher.
Meanwhile, comedian Darren Harriott gave an energetic routine to Fireball by Pitbull with his skating partner Tippy Packard and John Fashanu paid tribute to his sporting background as he performed to Eat My Goal by Collapsed Lung alongside his professional partner Alexandra Schauman.
However, it was former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson who topped the leaderboard during the episode with a score of 32 alongside her partner Mark Hanretty and Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher gave an elegant performance to Angel Eyes by Abba as she took to the ice for the first time with her skating partner, and her soap co-star's husband, Sylvain Longchambon.
But it was poor John who became the first celebrity to be eliminated from the ITV skating competition, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, after he landed in the dreaded skate-off with Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu after she received the fewest public votes during the series opener last week.
John, 60, and his professional partner Alexandra Schauman performed once again, this time to Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit In The Sky while Ekin-Su, 28, and her partner Brendyn Hatfield skated to No Tears Left To Cry by Ariana Grande.
After the couples went head to head, the judges voted unanimously to save Ekin-Su meaning John became the first celebrity to exit the competition. While some branded his exit 'unfair' due to the time he had to prepare for the skate-off over Ekin, other viewers were simply too distracted by another issue - and they say they're 'sick' of it.

@TVChatty commented: "These ad breaks are really annoying - far too many #DancingOnIce." @thisisedel_xo said: "We don’t need an ad break every 5mins #dancingonice." @yvette_fans posted: "#DancingOnIce Seriously what is with the ad breaks after every single couple! Getting boring now! Like really where have the days gone where we got like 2/3 couples skate and then an ad break?! #SortItOut!" Andy cheekily added: "I wait all day for my favourite TV Advert viewing time and @ITV keep throwing in little snippets of #dancingonice to interrupt them. Can we please put a stop to this."
