ITV Corrie star Ellie Leach addresses proposal talk as she says "love you forever" with couple photo

Coronation Street star Ellie Leach looked a world from her troubles on the famous cobbles as she holidayed with her boyfriend. Ellie's character Faye has been having a tough time in Weatherfield recently, but in real-life the star was beaming as she cuddled her man in a snap shared from their holiday in Tenerife.

Ellie was also joined on the trip by her Corrie co-star cousin Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster in the soap, and her sons Mexx and Monroe. She looked the picture of happiness as she gave Ryan a hug in one snap shared on her Instagram.

"Love you forever," she said a sweet message to her boyfriend, and he replied with love hearts. The romantic sharing had fans wondering if they could hear wedding wells on the horizon.

In the show Faye was devastated last year to be told she was going through an early menopause at 20. Her troubles weren't helped by her supportive boyfriend Craig Tinker's fussing.

Despite trying to do the right thing he had Faye fuming when he asked her boss Carla Connor not to put Faye under pressure at work at the Underworld factory. He then left her distraught by presenting her with a special nightie designed to keep her cool and improve her sleep. Thinking Craig didn't see her as desirable anymore she made a move on her shocked neighbour Michael Bailey.

Ellie appeared on the ITV chat show Loose Women as part of their 'Menopause Manifesto' campaign to talk about Faye's premature ovarian failure storyline. She said: "I was shocked because I didn't realise it could happen to women so young. But I think that's why it's good because not a lot of people know about it so it's good to be able to show that this happens."

She added: "There's all types of stuff that happens and so many symptoms. I think the hardest one for me is the mood swings. You go from zero to 100 so quickly, and I really don't go through that in my life but it is like something takes over your body and you can't describe it."

The star revealed her mum is menopausal and is helping her with the storyline as she's experiencing a number of the symptoms her character has to portray. She explained: "It's really helpful because I can kind of see what she's like and she does have the mood swings and the hot flushes. But she's fine and it is nice to have her there."

On the storyline highlighting how menopause can also have an affect on partners, she said: "I think that's what's also not spoken about is how people's partners deal with it and how it affects them. Because obviously you're going through it and it's kind of in a way quite selfish. You don't think about the people around you and how it's affecting them."

Ellie, from Bury, has been involved in some of the soap's most harrowing storylines as Faye, who she has played since 2011. She has tackled hard-hitting storylines including her character falling pregnant when she was 12.

In 2020 she was sexually assaulted by evil Ray Crosby and in 2021 she went to prison for attacking Adam Barlow in a case of mistaken identity thinking that he was her sleazy boss. After being released on bail she lurched straight into another drama when, during a driving lesson on New Year's Day 2022 with Emma Brooker, she accidentally ran down a pensioner called Ted.

The girls took him home after he reassured he was okay but they were horrified to find him dead in his chair after going back later to check on him. Terrified of going back to prison, Faye and Emma decided to cover up his death and leave him for his grandson Jon to find. But things became more complicated when a guilt-ridden Emma met Jon at Ted's funeral and they fell for each other.

Faye eventually blurted out the truth to Jon. But there was a happy ending for Emma when he decided to forgive his soulmate and the pair moved away together to Australia start a new life.

Faye thought she had suffered a miscarriage through stress. But she was distraught to be told that she was unable to have children of her own after going into early menopause.
