Their on-screen relationship can often be tense but Coronation Street's Kate Ford and Elle Mulvaney have shown that their mother-daughter relationship isn't just for the cameras. Fans best know the pair for playing Tracy and Amy Barlow in the ITV soap.
Over the weekend, Elle, who has grown up on-screen having been cast in her role aged just seven, took to Instagram with a stunning snap as she celebrated her co-star's birthday in Manchester.
The 20-year-old soap star was out with Summer Spellman star Harriet Bibby who was marking her 24th birthday with on-screen bestie Elle and Jack James Ryan who plays Amy's boyfriend Jacob Hay in Corrie. The stars were also joined by Harriet's sister and fellow actor Emily Wynne as they tagged in 42nd Street Nightclub and Revolution at Deansgate Locks.
Harriet, who took on the role of teenager Summer in 2020, shared photos from her birthday night out including one where she posed on a swing in a blue and green skort and matching cropped top with chunky beige boots. The picture was replicated by Elle who sat on the chair while donning a polka dot jumpsuit and white trainers.
Sharing the snap to her Instagram page, the actress said: "Til death do us party," copying the words in neon lights behind her. She also shared a selfie from her Cheshire home before heading out into town, giving a closer glimpse at her glittery make-up look and recently highlighted locks.
Among the first to comment was on-screen mum Kate, who has appeared in the Salford-based soap on and off since 2002. She wrote: "My daughter is so beautiful," with Elle simply replying with a string of red hearts.
Fans were also quick to share their compliments to Elle. @johno1863 said: "Looking lovely as always.
@stu69ball commented: "Looking fabulous loving the new look hair!"
"Beautiful as always," @_owen_pope_xx_ shared.
Elle had previously revealed that Kate really does act like her mum off-screen. She told OK! back in January: "Her and Simon [Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald] act like my parents. I remember when I told them that I first had a boyfriend, they instantly said, 'So who is he?!'
"I replied, 'Guys, you do know you’re not my real parents.' But we really are like a family. They’re great to talk to and they almost are like parent figures because I’ve grown up with them. I’m in one of the most iconic families on the Street - it doesn’t get much better than that."
Elle went 'Instagram official' with her boyfriend, Euan Marsden., in February. She posted a snap of the pair sweetly gazing into each other's eyes. A second photo saw the pair posing for the camera as Elle simply captioned the post: "Valentines," with a pink heart.
