The heatwave has caused travel chaos this week and it appears Jack P Shepherd may have fallen victim to the weather. The Coronation Street star detailed his nightmare journey from Manchester to London late on Wednesday night (July 20).
The actor, who is best known for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, took to social media after he finally arrived in the capital ahead of appeared on ITV's Loose Women on Thursday (July 21) alongside his co-stars Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker in Corrie, and on-screen brother Ben Price, aka Nick Tilsley.
While the trio are likely to be quizzed about life on the famous street, they're actually on the show to chat about their project away from the long-running soap which is their much-loved podcast, the Sofa Cinema Club.
But back to Jack's journey and the 34-year-old first shared a snap to his Instagram Story from a train station platform, writing: "MCR - LND. Terminated at Milton Keynes." Following a group of other commuters, the soap star said: "We all had to get off and catch a connecting train to Watford station."
And busy would be an understatement as Jack shared a snap of people hanging around waiting for the train. "This was about 22:30. A train journey that usually takes 2 hours. People had been on the train since 17:00." But it didn't get any better when the train arrived. "Train arrived... and it was already a full train," he said.
He went on to share more images of him almost stuck under a fellow travellers armpit before he was seen squashed into a seat. "Mad it," he wrote alongside the uncomfortable-looking selfie that gave a glimpse out the train window. But that wasn't the end.
An annoyed Jack wrote: "Absolute p**s take [crying laughing emojis]. We got to Watford. Then it was a 55 minute journey on the overground to Euston station." The rain then started to fall as the commuters made their way down the platform to get their next connecting train.
"Finally made it to London," Jack shared alongside a picture of what was possibly a kebab in the rain. "Wtf is this," he wrote, again seeming unimpressed.
On Wednesday trains were being cancelled and rail services disrupted after the UK recorded its hottest day on record. Repair work was ongoing across the UK's rail network in the wake of the heatwave.
