Former Coronation Street star Faye Brookes has revealed she is engaged to fellow actor Iwan Lewis following a four-month whirlwind romance. The actress only went 'Instagram official' with her former co-star just before Christmas.
Faye, who starred as Kate Connor in ITV soap Corrie, has now revealed that she has said 'yes' after Iwan popped the question. But while they may have only been romanticly involved for a few short months, the pair have actually known each other for over a decade.
"We’re thrilled to announce that Iwan and I are engaged," she said of her happy news in an exclusive statement to OK! Magazine. "He proposed on New Year’s Eve. I am going to be marrying my best friend in the world after 16 years of friendship."
Faye, 35, found love with Iwan, who she shared the stage with in Legally Blonde back in 2011, in October last year, with rumours circulating recently that the pair have moved in together. While Faye has kept tight-lipped about her romance, she has shared some gorgeous snaps of her and her now fiancé on social media.
In one snap posted on Instagram before the New Year, Faye could be seen wearing a sleeveless green gown that draped all the way to the floor, while Iwan was clad in smart a tuxedo. The couple had an arm around each other, each holding a glass of what appeared to be champagne, with their faces close while smiling at each other.
Faye, who was previously engaged to Gareth Gates, simply captioned the post with a black heart symbol and tagged Iwan in the photo while friends and fans rushed to compliment the couple. "My person," Faye also labelled a different photo of the couple sipping cocktails.
The happy news comes six months after Faye announced that she former partner Joe Davies had split after almost three years together. She took to social media in July to reveal that she and personal trainer Joe have decided to go their separate ways.
Faye, from Flixton, told her followers that their friendship remains 'stonger than ever'. Just last month she opened up about working on renovations to their 'forever home' together after selling their apartment in Manchester and moving out of the city centre the previous year.
She tweeted: "Just wanted to say that, very sadly, after nearly three years Joe and I have decided to go our separate ways. We had the most wonderful of times, and our mutual respect, admiration and friendship remains stronger than ever."
