ITV Corrie's Colson Smith beams alongside Tyson Fury after boxing champ reveals soap star connection

Colson Smith looked like the cat who got the cream as he posed next to Tyson Fury in a brand new snap. The Coronation Street actor got up close to the WBC heavyweight world champion after appearing on The Games.

ITV's new show started on Monday night (May 9) and sees Colson, alongside 11 other celebs, go head-to-head in a range of sporting challenges - from diving to hurdles, and weight lifting to javelin - having undergone weeks of intensive training.

Their three months of coaching comes down to the live events which air across a week of live shows amidst fierce competition in the hope of coming top of the medals table and being crowned the winner of the competition.

And night one, which saw boxing champ Tyson join the panel of experts, saw the famous faces take part in their first live events as the women took on the hurdles before the men battled it out in the 400m race. There were also two pre-recorded events, the hammer and diving, that viewers got to see in the first episode.

Following his 4th place performance in the men's 400m race, Colson took to Instagram as he bagged a snap with the 'Gypsy King' himself. Posing on the track with their fists ready to use for a punch, the Craig Tinker actor said: " A World Champion & the lad who got 4th place in the Mens 400m."

Colson's on-screen girlfriend Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass in the ITV soap, was among the first to comment, simply writing: " legends."

Andy Whyment, who plays Corrie's Kirk Sutherland, said: "Great picture mate," while former co-star Brooke Vincent added a string of applause emojis under the post which saw Colson beam as he stood next to Tyson, who was wearing suit and matching shirt emblazoned with crowns.

And fans were equally impressed. @ilonaberrimanx wrote: "Boss photo this," as @debann3001 commented: "Fabulous photo, well done."

@everitt_v replied: "Awww excellent what a lovely picture," while @hrhdarren joked: "Wow that fella on the right has done well to run 400 meters in those shoes."

Colson's post comes after Tyson revealed he had a connection to his fellow soap stars. The 23-year-old is competing against Ryan Thomas, who starred in Corrie as Jason Grimshaw.

Appearing on the panel opposite hosts Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, Tyson was asked by musician and youtuber Yung Filly to guess which one of the celebs told them he was their sporting hero. After a brief pause to think, Tyson guessed Ryan.

Scott was thrilled with his shoutout (Scott Thomas Instagram)

"For the reason that I grew up with his two brothers, he added referring to twins Adam, who starred in Emmerdale, and Scott, who appeared on Love Island before becoming the director of his own company."

And Scott was very pleased with the shoutout, video the moment and sharing it to his Instagram Story. As Tyson mentioned them he screeched: "Yes Tyson... Cheadle! Go on Cheadle!" before tagging his brother in the clip and saying: "Cheadle days." He also wrote on a previous video: "Big shout out from the King here @adamthomas21."
