The Coronation Street cobbles have been awash with tears after Toyah Battersby split from fiance Imran Habeeb. Then, she was forced to say a devastating farewell to their foster daughter Elsie in Monday night's episode (April 11) after the smarmy solicitor's cheating was exposed.
Toyah was in bits while waving off the four-year-old to a new 'forever home' after being told she couldn't adopt Elsie on her own. The social worker turned her down and said it wouldn't be in Elsie's 'best interests' while Toyah is going through a split.
Toyah had been planning to adopt adorable Elsie with Imran. But ahead of their all-important adoption hearing she discovered that he had cheated on her with drug addict neighbour Abi Franklin, resulting in a the surprise birth of a baby boy named Alfie.

But new on-location photos show the soap couple reunited as stars Georgia Taylor and Charlie De Melo filmed near the Etihad stadium. The pair, who were dressed smartly, filmed driving scenes in a car loaded on the back of a truck on Monday afternoon.
They looked solemn as they filmed the car scenes but they were all smiles and looked in great spirits as they took a break. Georgia sported a chic camel-coloured coat as she held an animal print water bottle.
And Charlie looked dapper in a three-piece suit as he clutched a water bottle and a hot drinks cup. His character had a shock in the latest instalment of Corrie when he walked into his office to find Toyah drunkenly planting a kiss on his colleague Adam Barlow after he comforted her over her heartbreak.
On Wednesday, Imran has a bombshell for Toyah. When Abi turns down moving in with him he decides to fight dirty. Imran hears Abi is now in possession of a bottle of morphine that she confiscated from grieving teen Kelly Neelan following the death of her mum Laura. He shares his fears with Toyah and tells her that he intends to fight for custody of Alfie and he would love her to help him raise his son as a family.
Toyah is not impressed with Imran’s dirty tricks as he sets out to gather evidence that she's back on drugs. But next week when she hears Abi and her solicitor Elliot discussing ways to scupper Imran’s chances of custody she tells Imran she supports his plan to prove Abi is not fit to be a mother.
However in the neonatal unit Abi tells them she wants them all to be a part of Alfie’s life. And viewers will be left wondering if Toyah will still support Imran.
Responding to the comments about Toyah's powerful showdown with Imran at the adoption hearing, Georgia told fans that the drama was 'just beginning.' She said on Twitter: "Huge thanks for the very lovely messages about last night’s #corrie I’m very lucky to work with such a top team of talented folk, especially @CharlieDemelo. The drama’s only just beginning…"
