Corrie fans couldn't help picking holes as they watched 'Super Soap Week' unfold in Weatherfield. In highly-charged scenes troubled teen Kelly Neelan revealed at her engagement party to her guardian Gary Windass that she knew he had killed her father Rick.
Kelly had been taken in by Gary and his wife Maria on Coronation Street after losing both her father in 2019 and most recently her mum Laura. She was distraught to learn from close friend Sharon Geary that it was Gary who had murdered Rick while working for him as a loan shark and not her mum as she had believed.
Kelly double-crossed Gary by hiring a hitman to kill him for a price of £10,000. As Gary was knocked unconscious and thrown in the van close to the bistro holding her party, Kelly told Kieron he’d get the rest of his money once Gary was dead.

But as the van sped away, Kelly wondered what she’d done. The action then cut to Kieron and his sidekick Al leading Gary through the woods to the very place where he killed Rick and, pointing a gun at him, ordered him to dig his own grave.
Gary, played by Mikey North, managed to fight back as Kelly rang to call off the deal and Kieron went after her. Realising Kelly was in danger, Gary clobbered Al over the head with a spade and knocked him out.
Using his mobile phone Gary managed to get through to his son Joseph to ask for Maria or Kelly before it cut out, but could only reach Kelly's voicemail. However, after checking into a swanky hotel with her fiance Aadi Alahan, Kelly was seen accepting a call from Kieron and told him where she was staying.
The race was on for Gary to get to Kelly as fans found fault. @blokeonradio tweeted: "Only person to get a phone signal in the middle of a forest!" @toniearlybird said: "Amazing phone reception in that forest."
@Viva_MartinV echoed: "Pretty remarkable to get signal in the middle of the woods for a start!" While @I_am_KenBarlow asked: "Erm Windass.... Why don't YOU call the police? Be more use than calling Maria."
@MarcusStarrFTW observed about Kelly: "So you answer your phone to the bad bloke, but not to Gary or listen to the VM he left? Okay." @chippytea_ said: "The fact that Kelly has the hitman's number saved in her phone really says it all doesn't it." and @floweroflondon commented about the scene: "This is the hitman's name and number saved on my phone, officer."
But other fans were distracted by Gary's new look. His usually swept-back hairstyle was dishevelled by the digging and viewers loved it.
The Conversation Street Podcast @ConversationStr tweeted: "Gary’s so frazzled by digging his own grave that his haircut has gone back in time to Titanic-movie-era curtains." @_jennifer1878 admired: "Gary's hair tho."
@Willswhinge gasped: "Gary's Hair!" @stevebethere praised: "That floppy hair will save Gary mark my words." @Clawmaw applauded with a love heart: "Gary's hair is perfectly styled!" and @meenastoyboy said they were "obsessed."
