Soap watchers reacted with amazement as a drug deal at the Coronation Street bistro went off with a bang. Nerves were already shot to pieces from the finale of crime drama Happy Valley on Sunday night, and viewers felt they were put through the wringer again as gun violence broke out in the bistro run by Nick Tilsley and partner Leanne Battersby.
Corrie fans are aware that villain Damon Hay has been forcing Nick to use his restaurant as a front for his drug dealing business. In Monday night's episode (February 6) Nick called Damon and confirmed that drugs had been delivered.
Then there was high-octane drama as two masked men entered the bistro with Nick's young son Sam Blakeman inside. Pointing a gun at Nick's employee Ryan Connor, they demanded that he handed over the drugs.

Ryan was terrified while Sam dived under a table and called his dad. As he answered, a gunshot rang out and Nick, Leanne and Damon raced towards the bistro fearing for both Sam and Ryan.
The gunman pointed his gun at Nick but Damon dived at him and pinned him down. Eventually he wriggled free and the two men legged it.
Police questioned Ryan who explained the men kept asking where the drugs were stashed. Nick watched nervously as a handler arrived with a sniffer dog. After the police had gone, Damon handed Nick the holdall full of drugs and ordered him to look after it until tomorrow.
@toniearlybird tweeted: "Jeez, #Corrie seems to have turned into #HappyValley this evening." And @Rosskiernan_ asked: "Just switched on what the.. is happening?" And @ToweyEmily exclaimed: "OMG @itvcorrie I didn't see this coming! My nerves are still shot from #HappyValley last night!"
@t_catttt observed: "Corrie more gunshots stabbings in this 1 street than a Die Hard movie!" @BrettHadley42 asked: "Terrorist gangs? Now armed drugs raids? What’s happening to #corrie?!" And @sofaneilas joked: "Remember when they did the Frescho robbery and had like three eps of something and now we've got two goons shooting up the bistro like; look man we gotta hurry this up, Stephen's due to kill someone on Friday."
Other viewers asked why the bistro customers remained inside instead of fleeing. @janwilkins59 wondered: "Why is everyone else just sitting there and not taking advantage of the scurmish?*!"
@Mammy_white quipped: "Don’t bother getting out the bistro just stand and have a gossip." And @efc_me1 asked: "No one running out the bistro? Everyone at T’rovers door can’t see a thing. Only 40 yards away. Is Kevs garage closed? And the cabin and devs?"
