ITV Coronation Street Sean Tully's romantic pursuit leaves fans taken aback

Coronation Street viewers were distracted as Sean Tully pursued a new love interest.

The character, played by Anthony Cotton, has endured a difficult time lately after his split from Frank Bardsley. Sean was smitten with Frank but cut ties after he showed he hadn't changed from the school bully who made George Shuttleworth's life hell.

Sean has since moved on after he sensed a connection with a dentist named Laurence he met at a wake on Friday's episode. Glenda Shuttleworth debuted on the show on the same programme and she vowed to help Sean hunt down his new romantic interest.

The character, played by Jodie Prenger, concocted an idea in tonight's show and suggested Sean should pretend to be a patient at his dental surgery and kickstart a conversation. Glenda shocked Sean when she revealed she had arranged an appointment for him to see the dentist later that day.

However, viewers following the show on Twitter were taken aback by how quickly he managed to get an appointment.

Chrystna said: "Ah #Corrie got its finger on the pulse giving Sean a same day emergency dental appointment the day the news is full of people pulling their own teeth out because they can't get to see a dentist"

The Saturday Boy added: "Jesus, Sean getting a dentist appointment on the same day Glenda rang for one."

@antrojak commented: "Dentist appointment ? What magic is this ?"

Jeff posted : "Sean is looking for a dentist. Aren't we all ?!"
