Harriet Bibby may be starring in Coronation Street but she's also branching into music as she teams up for her first single. The actress, who plays Summer Spellman in the ITV soap, has shown off her hidden singing talent as she put her voice to a new charity single.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday evening (June 21), the 25-year-old shared a post from Diabetes UK. It showed Harriet alongside singer-songwriter Shane Board with the charity of explaining more in the caption.
It read: "Singer-songwriter Shane Board has recorded a single with Harriet Bibby (@harrietanneb) of @coronationstreet, in aid of Diabetes UK. Harriet plays Summer Spellman, who lives with #Type1Diabetes, in the soap."
A link to the song, titled People We Keep, was then shared with the music video featuring both Shane and Harriet. It starts with the pair travelling in a car and later they're seen singing to each other. And it's been received well by fans. Jo Bob said: "You have a beautiful voice young lady."
Martin commented: "Lovely voice Harriet." @dogloveryazx also said on Instagram: "What a beautiful song." It comes as the charity worked with Coronation Street on Summer's diabetes storyline. The teenage character was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year. More recently, viewers have watched as she struggled to manage her condition and started experiencing a complicated relationship with food and disordered eating - while having to deal with the added pressure of sitting her exams.
Earlier this month Corrie fans were left furious when Summer let friend, and former love interest, Aadi Alahan take the blame for her cheating. Having already missed one exam due to her blood sugars being out of control as she failed to take her insulin, Summer felt the pressure and took revision cards Aadi had made into the exam.
When she was almost caught, she told the invigilator she needed to check her blood sugars but the cards spilled out onto the floor. Recognising the handwriting, it was Aadi who got marched out of the exam and was even willing to take the rap for Summer, However, she did eventually come clean leaving her friends appalled.
She has since decided that she will no longer got to Oxford, despite Todd, Billy Mayhew and Paul Ashworth's best efforts. Summer is instead giving things another go with James, who she met at the diabetic support group, with the pair planning to jet off on holiday.
Harriet's latest announcement comes days after she revealed she was taking on another role away from the ITV soap. The soap star, again, took to her Instagram Story to reshare a post that announced she'd be playing the role of 'Girl' in 'Blackbird' at Liverpool's Royal Court Studio for four shows in July.
