Sue Cleaver wowed This Morning viewers as she sat down to chat to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. The Coronation Street actress was live in the studio for her latest appearance on the ITV daytime show as she chatted about her return to the soap and her time on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.
The actress, who has spent more than 22 years playing Weatherfield resident Eileen Grimshaw, was the third campmate to be evicted from the jungle after joining the likes of Boy George, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Matt Hancock and eventual winner, Jill Scott, Down Under for the 2022 edition of the ITV reality show.
Speaking about her time in Australia on This Morning after being asked if she'd seen any of the show back, Sue told Holly and Phillip: "I’ve dipped in and out and watched bits, but all of us have talked about it, but watching bits back - that isn’t our journey, we’ve very much got our journey that we want to remember. So I haven’t watched a lot of it back…"
And she also addressed having former health secretary Matt Hancock in the jungle with his addition to the line-up causing outrage back in the UK. "Having Matt [Hancock] was a big surprise and we were in a really difficult position, because if we didn’t address it, there was going to be a lot of criticism from home, so it was like having the elephant in the room… " she said.
"And you see an edited version of 24 hours a day and I think we all behaved impeccably, we all got on…" Sue added, "We are all still in contact, and outside of those doors now should be Charlene [White] waiting to meet me and we're going for a coffee after!"
At the start of the interview, clips of Sue in Corrie were played out, showing her on-screen rivalry with co-star Helen Worth, he plays Gail Platt. And when Phillip commented how she and Helen will have known each other for at least 23 years, the 59-year-old revealed: “I've known Helen Worth a lot longer than 23 years. I met Helen when I was 23 years old, we've known each other that long."
She then went on to share the link between the pair. "Helen was a very good friend of my birth mother and I talked about that in the jungle, so we’ve known each other a very long time and we love our fights [on screen]!"
As she chatted on the show, This Morning viewers couldn't help but flock to social media to compliment Sue, who looked amazing in a pair of vibrant green trousers and black leather jacket, as she showed off her new look. @missohloola tweeted: "Sue Cleaver looks amaaaaaaaazing #thismorning."
@Boppity_Boo34 said: "Sue going for the 80s rock chick look #ThisMorning." @karmacomesback wrote: "Oh my days, Sue looks incredible!!! #ThisMorning." @endexuk commented: "Sue Cleaver has turned back the clock she looks amazing #ThisMorning." @Brentmatthews added: "OMG @Sue_Cleaver looks absolutely amazing on #thismorning."
Sue also impressed Holly and Phillip as she shared her positive outlook for 2023. Sue revealed: "The biggest change for me was that at the beginning of last year, I went on HRT and I realised I should’ve done that five years ago, because I feel like a different human being.
"I have so much energy, everything has fallen into place, my kids have grown up, and you know, this is my time. I always said I’d never do the jungle, but I did it, I loved it, it’s given me great confidence and a big boost… and I want lots more adventures! I feel like a complete new person. This is my decade, I want to push myself out of my comfort zone."
