Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson has revealed she's been able to return back to her volunteer work weeks after confirming she had left the show. The actress appeared in the ITV soap as Nicky Wheatley in 2020, but after a brief stint, she left only to return back in March.
The character's return to Weatherfield didn't quite go to plan, with the former sex worker left devasted when Max Turner leaked her former profession to the whole of Weatherfield High where she had just bagged a job alongside teacher and former flame Daniel Osbourne.
After losing her new job, Nicky was unable to afford the home she had found for her and Maisie and Daniel ended up taking her in. But he soon reconciled with girlfriend Daisy Midgeley, despite Nicky confessing her feelings for him, and Nicky felt it was time to move out.

She did, however, make a brief return earlier this month in scenes alongside Peter Barlow but later confirmed they were her final scenes for now. During a Q&A on Instagram, a follower asked Kimberly: "Why you leaving Corrie," to which the 35-year-old replied: "Okkkk let’s get this answered because it’s heavy in the inbox.
"So it’s not a case of leaving Corrie. It’s more that I came back for a storyline which for now has been completed. If you watched Friday’s eps you will see there was no big leaving scene so you never know for the future but what I do know is this…
"I owe so much to Corrie and I absolutely love it there - the people - the vibe - the street. Life happens in chapters - and I am looking forward to the next part."
But with a little bit more time on her hands, Kimberly has been able to return to something that means a lot to her and that is volunteering at the British Heart Foundation. The soap star took to her Instagram Story to share that she was heading back to the Picadilly Gardens store after taking some time out to care for her mum.
"Most of you know that I work with the British Heart Foundation very closely and today I'm starting back at my volunteer role in the shop," she told her followers in a video. "I had to take a break because I was my mum's career but I'm back in the game today." She then went on to share some of the bargains she was able to pick up.
"Whenever I'm on shift I always buy stuff so this is from the £3 Pretty Little Thing range sale," she said as she showed off a variety of items including a bright orange midi dress with cut-out detailing and a couple of bodysuits. "Make sure you head down there because there's some absolute treats," she added at the end of her video.
As well as being an actress, Kimberly is a businesswoman having set up fashion company, Hart-Work, in 2018 with all the items for sale being handmade by the soap star herself. Kimberly explains on the site how she got into making clothes. She said: "Working as a professional actor for over a decade, I picked up a sewing machine in 2018 when work was dry, but my creative mind wasn’t!
"Hours of YouTube videos and a couple of dodgy garms later, I discover I had the patience and steady hand to create. Fortunate enough to get my work on the red carpet at The Soap Awards 2018 I knew I had given birth to a new obsession; Hart-Work!" And She regularly wows her social media followers with her latest handy work, regularly picking up items from the charity shop and bringing them back to life as brand new pieces.
