Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn stunned in leather as she hit the red carpet. And she had more than just being out to see the pantomime to celebrate as the actress also had some major career news to share.
Katie, who starred as Sinead Osbourne - nee Tinker - in the ITV soap, stepped out in Manchester on Tuesday evening (December 13) as she headed to the Manchester Opera House to watch Peter Pan starring comedian Jason Manford and Britain's Got Talent finalist Ben Nickless.
She was joined by friend Lee Bennett and two younger guests for the family-friendly night out. But all eyes were on Katie who rocked a pair of black leather pants for the occasion. The 29-year-old paired the figure-hugging flares with a black mesh top and an oversized coat with fur trim.
Katie added glitz with a pair of sparkling heels while she opted for a glam red lip as she smiled for the awaiting cameras. But while she was out enjoying the fun, she also had some exciting news to share.
Following her stint in Corrie, as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing contestant, and an appearance in Hollyoaks, the former soap star is heading for the stage and is set to make her stage debut in the lead cast of critically acclaimed author Peter James’ Wish You Were Dead national tour.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Katie typed: "Absolutely delighted to share that I’m joining the lead cast of @peterjamesuk’s Wish You Were Dead national tour, making my professional stage play debut as Cleo. I’ll be sharing the role with the wonderful @mrsgifletcher and joining @grainsford.
"@clive.mantle.752 and Leon Stewart from the 2nd May through to the 29th July 2023 - I can’t wait to visit some of the UK’s most iconic theatres and am so thrilled to be performing alongside such a talented cast." And she was quickly being congratulated by her former co-stars and celeb pals.
Sair Khan, who plays Alya Nazir in Corrie, said: "Go on girl!!! My superstar. Love you xxx." Abi Webster actress Sally Carman wrote: "Congratulations you lil beaut!" Former on-screen auntie Lisa George, who stars in the ITV soap as Beth Sutherland, commented: " So happy for you angel."
Former Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson replied: "Wonderful news beautiful girl! Congratulations!!!" Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson typed: "Congratulations babe." Nikki's co-star Chelcee Healey added: "Amazing!!! and i bloody love george too what a cast well done girl."
Katie, who last year competed in Strictly Come Dancing partnered with pro-dancer Gorka Marquez, played Sinead in Corrie from 2013 until 2019 when the much-loved character tragically passed away after fighting cervical cancer shortly after her wedding day and welcoming a baby boy with Daniel.
Back in September, Katie took on a challenge in memory of Sinead to raise funds for the charity Mummy's Star which provides cancer support for women experiencing cancer diagnosis during pregnancy and beyond. And last year Katie filmed as she went for her smear test to encourage other women to have the screening. The aim was to show how 'quick and easy' it is, telling fans the procedure could potentially save their life.
