ITV Coronation Street's Colson Smith says chronic skin condition 'disheartening'

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has revealed he was recently diagnosed with a chronic condition, which can be "disheartening" at times. The actor, who has played Craig Tinker on the ITV soap since 2011, said he has taken to wearing long sleeves since January to cover up rashes caused by the skin condition.

Colson, 24, explained that it is not clear what causes his chronic idiopathic urticaria. But he hopes it isn't due to an allergy from his favourite foods Nando's or Haribo Tangfastics, as his Corrie co-star Jack P Shepherd has suggested.

The condition causes hives - red, itchy rashes - on his skin in different parts of his body. He told Sofa Cinema Club podcast: “It only annoys me when it’s on my face. It’s a bit disheartening when it’s on your face," reported the Daily Star.
