Coronation Street's newest star Erin Austen has teased what is to come amid Ryan Connor's acid attack recovery. Viewers of the ITV soap saw Crystal appear on the cobbles last month when she got chatting to Ryan and Daisy Midgeley in the Bistro.
It soon came to light that Crystal was a club promoter in Ibiza and Ryan's eyes lit up as he revealed he'd seen her out there during his own time DJing on the island. She handed him his business card and after revealing to former girlfriend Alya Nazir that he'd been offered a job, she told him she was happy for him and Ryan saw it as a sign that she wasn't interested in anything romantic and took the job.
He also started to get cosy with Crystal but Ryan's world was turned upside down when he was involved in a horrific acid attack. The character, played by Ryan Prescott, found himself in the crossfire when Daisy's stalker Justin Rutherford returned to Weatherfield after months of harassing the barmaid.
The menacing character, played by Andrew Still, was lurking in the shadows at the Rovers Return as Ryan and Daisy, played by Charlotte Jordan, locked up the pub ahead of her wedding to Daniel Osbourne. Donning her wedding dress and ready to head to the venue to marry her fiancé, Daisy's blood ran cold when she heard Justin's voice.
After suggesting things were too perfect for her, Justin hurled acid in Daisy's direction. But in a shocking twist Ryan jumped in and was left writhing and screaming. Daisy, who was also caught by the acid as Justin barged his way out of the pub, called 999 and was instructed to get him into the shower.
After dousing him in the cold water as she desperately cut his clothes off, the emergency services arrived and rushed Ryan to hospital where his road to recovery has begun. After initially refusing visitors, Daisy returned to the hospital to see Ryan and told him how she had bumped into Crystal, who was keen to know if he was OK and wanted to see him herself when he's ready.
While she hasn't been seen since, Erin, who is playing the new character, revealed to the Liverpool Echo that there is more to come. As she remained tight-lipped on any spoilers, she did say "You’ll have to keep watching and trust me when I say there are some incredible twists coming up."
It comes after fans think they have spotted another romance could come out of Ryan's injury horror. After emotional scenes between Ryan and Daisy, Corrie fans think their shared experience could lead to a relationship between the pair later down the line, years after the scheming barmaid tried to split him and Alya up.
@kristen.stewart.account said: "I see Daisy and Ryan growing closer. I think they will end up together." @kirstyanne7991 commented: "I think a relationship is going to occur." @lucberthelette added: "I sense Daisy will have a lot of guilt with this. A lot. I also hope it brings them closer. Daisy is deserving of a man who treats her kindly and with respect. No disrespect to the character of Daniel, but he has not been the kindest/most charming/supportive to Daisy during their romance. @charliejordanxo and @ryan_prescottactor 's best be put forward come award times. Truly deserving."
