ITV Coronation Street newcomer's 'damaged' soap past as he makes menacing vow

Coronation Street's Andrew Still made a menacing vow as he teased what his character is capable of.

The Scottish actor has lit up the screen with his creepy performance since he arrived on the Cobbles as Justin. The soap star has become infatuated with Daisy Midgeley since she comforted him in the hospital waiting room when he visited his dying mum.

Andrew told the ECHO and other press his character latched onto Daisy at "the lowest point in his life". He said: "We've found him in this really damaged state and I think this is playing a lot into his thought process."

Andrew said Justin believes Daisy is his "romantic destiny" as his character continues to harass her on Weatherfield. The storyline is set to take a violent twist when his mum dies in the show.

Justin will have a bouquet of flowers to take to the funeral home when he bumps into Daisy. The character, played by Charlotte Jordan, will assume the flowers are for her and will throw them into the street as she attempts to spurn his advances once again.

Daisy will finally punch Justin when he touches her and George Shuttleworth will be forced to intervene to bring an end to the confrontation. Andrew said the plot will showcase a more sinister side to his character as he presses charges against Daisy for assault.

He said: "From his perspective he has been nothing but kind and loving towards her and this is the first time where we see some pushback and see a vindictive side that's lingering below the surface."

Andrew made a menacing vow as he revealed Justin is a dangerous character, who will stop at nothing to win Daisy's affection in Corrie. He said: "It was a bit of a shock about what's happening further down the line." He added: "He's laser focused and he will go to whatever ends he thinks are necessary."

It is not the first time Andrew has appeared in a soap as fans may recognise him from his stints on Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road. The actor explained how his Coronation Street performance differs from his previous roles.

He said: "It's like I'm getting typecast as someone who plays damaged individuals. I tend to play slightly vulnerable young men.

"Justin has that darker edge in a way that some of the other characters didn't."

Corrie writers sought advice from the Suzy Lamplaugh Trust for this storyline and Justin's character has been categorised as an "intimacy seeking stalker". A spokeswoman from the personal safety and stalking organisation said it was important a show like Corrie uses its platform to raise awareness on the issue of this "prolific crime".

Saskia Garner said: "It affects many people and can have a devastating impact on people’s lives yet many people may not recognise the behaviours as stalking. Above all we would say to anyone to trust their instinct and if something doesn’t seem right or you feel unsafe reach out for support through our services and tell someone you trust what is happening. The earlier the behaviours are identified and stopped the less likely they will escalate or cause even greater harm.”
