Coronation Street fans aren't convinced it's the end of the story after Stu Carpenter's daughter confessed to killing young waitress Charlie Walter, with whom he was having an affair. Yasmeen Metcalfe and her grandchildren Alya and Zeedan Nazir had been working to exonerate Stu after it emerged he was jailed for killing Charlie.
Chef Stu Carpenter, who arrived on screens in the ITV soap while homeless last year, served 27 years for murder after being wrongly imprisoned for the death of Charlie. Upon his release, he ended up jobless and homeless and it is only in the last year, with the help of the likes of Yasmeen and Kelly Neelan, he has been able to create a new life for himself on the cobbles.
But that was blown apart earlier this year when Stu's ex-wife, Lucy, arrived and told everyone about her estranged husband's past, leading to many of the street's residents boycotting Speed Daal and avoiding Stu in the street. In recent weeks, Alya enlisted the help of newcomer, and solicitor, Dee-Dee Bailey in a bid to clear his name for the murder.
In the meantime, he has also been reunited with his daughter Bridget Woodrow and met his granddaughter Eliza for the first time, which was met with strong disapproval from Lucy. But Stu agreed not to go through with plans to get his name cleared in order to spend time with his family.
While Stu is unaware that Alya has continued to use Dee-Dee's help to have evidence re-examined, he found out the truth for himself in emotional scenes. During Wednesday night's episod e (October 12), Bridget and Eliza were enjoying brunch with Yasmeen and Stu. But as Eliza asked Stu about life in prison, it became too much for Bridget who ran out to the garden, and the dark truth came tumbling out.
"You don't understand it was me. I killed Charlie," she confessed after Stu tried to comfort her. Bridget told how she got the bus to see her dad after his shift, with a clay model she made of her dog Albert. But she was heartbroken to see her dad in his car with Charlie and after Stu drove away she confronted his mistress who was seated at the nearby bus stop reading her book.
After a heated exchange, Bridget took the Clay model and, as Bridget bent over, she attacked her with it. And then came another twist as Bridget revealed her mum had also been involved. "There was no pulse. She wasn't breathing. I was scared. So scared so I called mum," she recalled.
It emerged mother and daughter had taken Charlie's body from the bus stop and left her in a shallow grave in woodland, and Bridget said her mum had begged her to keep it a secret. But while fans predicted Stu's family may have been involved, they are convinced there may be another twist in the tale still to come.

She knows that if she says it's her stuff won't go to the police. I wonder if the dna will say different and then he will go to the police. This storyline aint over yet....."

I still think it's lucy." @lisamariewestgarth added: "I'm thinking that there might be another twist just a theory but what if Lucy did the final blow without Bridget knowing thinking that Charlie was dead Lucy panicked and finished her off now that would be interesting."
