Coronation Street fans have said there's 'no way' after seeing a spoiler picture for upcoming scenes which will see an unwanted reunion for Faye Windass. At the end of last month two former characters 'returned' to the ITV soap - albeit in only spoken form. However, they will be making a grand return to Weatherfield.
Faye, played by Ellie Leach, opened up to her step-mum Sally Metcalfe as she appeared distracted at work. She revealed that her ex Jackson Hodge had been in touch and told her that he and their daughter, Miley, were back in the UK after living in Canada with his parents. Faye and Jackson conceived their child after the two teens slept together at a party with Miley then born in 2015.
As Sally seemed open to the idea of Faye reconnecting with her daughter, her step-daughter deemed it as the "worst news ever". And in scenes to air this week, Jackson will get in touch with Faye again. Aware that she’s been avoiding him lately, Faye agrees to a night out with her dad, Tim.
But when her phone buzzes with a message from Jackson, she quickly covers. Later, Jackson calls at No.4 and introduces himself to Sally and Tim as Miley’s dad, explaining that he and Miley have moved to the UK and he’s been trying to get in touch with Faye. Sally breaks the news to Tim that Faye’s been ignoring his messages because she doesn’t want to see her daughter leaving Tim shocked.
Then next week, new spoilers have revealed that when Faye heads out for the day with her boyfriend Craig Tinker, Tim welcomes Jackson and Miley into his home, despite Sally warning him that he's playing a dangerous game. All goes well until Miley and Eliza, Stu Carpenter's granddaughter, recognise each other on the street and stop to chat just as Craig and Faye pull up in a cab.
Tim's heart sinks and later during a confrontation, Tim tells Faye that if she passes up the opportunity to get to know her daughter, she'll regret it for the rest of her life. And it appears Tim's words worked as Faye's left a nervous wreck when Tim ushers Jackson and Miley into the house to see her.
It has already been revealed that Jackson has been recast and will now be played by actor Joseph Evans. The role was previously taken on by Rhys Cadman. But when a photo of Faye's reunion with Jackson and Miley was posted onto Corrie's social media pages, fans couldn't believe it.
Coleen McSorley-Burt wrote on Facebook: "It can’t be. She should be little girl not looks about 11!" Mary Brown said: "Are you sure this is Faye’s 7/8yr old daughter? She looks about 12!!" Suzanne Danielle commented: "No way is she 7 lol she's about 12."
Delia Barbara Bullen commented: "Her daughter looks more like her age. I find the children on Corrie all look much older than their age and definitely the parents and bigger." Tauhou C Hau posted: "She looks like a teenager.. I'm sure Miley was born like.. yesterday lol." Samantha Craven-Bentley asked: "Since when did Faye's daughter become 12 years old?"
Speaking about her character's initial decision not to want anything to do with Miley, Ellie, who plays Faye said: "When Faye first gets the message from Jackson, she immediately wants to say no. She does not want to see Jackson and Miley because she feels like it would have an extreme effect on her life, which it obviously would because she has not seen her daughter Miley since she was born.
"So her initial reaction is, ‘No, no , no,’ but in the back of her mind she begins to question herself. She begins to think, ‘What if? What would happen if I did meet Miley?’" She then added: "Meeting Miley again is a really big deal to Faye and she doesn’t want to mess this opportunity up."
