ITV Coronation Street fans say character 'stole the show' as Phill tried to win Fiz back

Coronation Street fans were treated to the first look at the fallout from Fiz Stape and Phill Whittaker's doomed wedding. After a series of setbacks, the pair finally walked down the aisle last week at a plush wedding venue in front of a select few family and friends.

Despite doing everything she can to go through with the nuptials, and brushing off ex Tyrone Dobbs' latest advances, the machinist looked set to buckle during the vows aired in the ITV soap on Friday night (July 8). But Fiz made it through and she and Phill were officially announced as husband and wife.

But just hours later, during the reception at the Bistro, Fiz pulled a tearful Phill to one side and told him their marriage was already over. As she did a runner, back into the arms of Tyrone with the pair seen sharing a passionate embrace on the street, Phill took to the mic and performed an emotional rendition of Build Me Up (Buttercup).

And there were blushes on Monday night (July 11) as Fiz and Tyrone got reacquainted. After declaring her feelings for Tyrone the reunited couple spent the night together. But there were awkward scenes as Phill unexpectedly turned up at 9 Coronation Street and interrupted them.

Phill begged Fiz for another chance. And he told her if she was back with Tyrone there was no way that he could cope with that betrayal. He then attempted to pull out all the stops by springing a surprise romantic meal on her at the Bistro. But it wasn't just your average meal as they were serenaded by a mariachi band.

Fiz, who had planned to go on a date with Tyrone, was not impressed but couldn't appear to get out of Phill's attempts to win her back, with him suggesting they go on their 'mini moon' and she gives him two weeks to change her mind or he'll pay for the annulment himself.

Later in the Rovers, Phill confided in Tyrone, who had been sworn to secrecy by Fiz about their reunion, and asked him to be his wingman while wooing his wife back despite him being there to try and convince him to leave Fiz be. Then, when back at home Tyrone propositioned Fiz while his gran, Evelyn Plummer, and the children, Hope and Ruby, were out.

While Corrie fans were quickly horrified by the saucy scenes, others were quick to point out who they thought was the real star of the show - Debbie Webster. She appeared to be enjoying the music provided by Phill at the Bistro, with the owner smiling and dancing around as she checked on her tables.

And viewers couldn't get enough. @fulbut tweeted: "Debbie was hilarious but I’d divorce Phil just for arranging that lunch….! #corrie." @DavidJosephLaw2 commented: "Omg that Mariachi band and Debbie dancing round. Brilliant #corrie." @jayneyb808 wrote: "I've cried, CRIED laughing at #Corrie #coronationstreet with the marachi band scene in the bistro!! Fiz's face & Debbie Webster dancing (thru their pain) to La Bamba!! Best scene in years."

Barb Wallace wrote on Facebook: "OMG, Debbie dancing around. ..hilarious!!! Nice to see some comedy coming back, not all gloom & doom!!!" Shirley Renton Young shared: "Debbie stole the scene so funny." Sharon Harris Price echoed: "Omg it was great and Debbie stole the show so funny loved it."

Others were obsessed with her look while at work as she donned a paisley patterned mini-dress with long sleeves that had been trimmed by black feathers. @RussellHayward tweeted: "Obsessed with Debbie’s feather cuffs #Corrie," to which @HildaOgdenOnSea replied: "Obsessed with Debbie fullflaminstop."
