Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a couple of issues as Kelly Neelan kickstarted her plan to have Gary Windass killed. On Sunday night viewers of the ITV soap saw the start of the explosive storyline when the teen discovered her guardian was responsible for her dad's death.
Rick's former office assistant Sharon couldn't continue to lie for Gary after Kelly showed her evidence that her mum Laura couldn't have been responsible for killing her dad as she was on holiday at the time. After her earlier visit to Gary left her feeling uneasy, Sharon ended up spilling the truth to Kelly, who immediately burst into tears and couldn't believe what she was hearing.
And as Corrie returned to screens on Tuesday night (September 20), viewers saw exactly what Kelly planned to do with the information - and it wasn't simply going to the police. Seconds into the episode they were freaked out by the menacing sight of Kelly appearing behind Gary wielding a baseball bat to the pounding soundtrack of Massive Attack's Angel.
But the bat suddenly disappeared when Kelly was disturbed by Maria Windass, showing Kelly was clearly imagining how she could do away with her guardian who she has been living with, unaware that the former loan shark killed her dad back in June 2019 after Gary discovered that his boss had planned to bury him alive.
And it was clear Kelly couldn't shake off her feelings of wanting to kill Gary as her late dad suddenly appeared in ghostly form, urging her on to commit murder.
Later, Kelly paid a visit to the police station in order to try and ID the man who kidnaped her earlier this year. However, she lied about seeing Keiron in the line-up and as he left the police station, Kelly approached her father's former henchman and offered him £10,000 to kill Gary.
As night arrived on the cobbles, Kelly was seen down one of the street's alleys waiting for Keiron to arrive. "You're late," she said to him before he replied: "Got the cash?" Kelly said: "Mhmm, why else would I be here?" When he asked where it was, she said her days of walking around with cash were 'behind her' and told Keiron: "Welcome to the modern age," she she held up her phone showing a banking app.
She transferred £5,000 to Kieron's account, promising to pay him the rest when the job is done. Kelly appeared slightly unnerved when she was told to 'get a move on' and say her goodbyes as he wouldn't be wasting any time. As she panicked about getting out of the country after planning a one-way tripe with fiance Aadi Alahan, she quickly found her Neelan grit and repeated her dad's saying: "He who dies pays all debts."
But Corrie fans were quick to comment on two specific things that caught their attention as Kelly's plan started to unfold. @perrin4020 said: "10k that's a cheap hitman." @lauren_benjamin_2001 commented: "£10k for murder? Thought Hitmen would be closer to £50k as a minimum."
Jane Woodford wrote on Facebook: "Since when do gangsters give people their bank details lol." Pat Timberley replied: "Paying a hitman by bank transfer - how ridiculous - might as well use a PayPal account." Simon Nortley asked: "Gangsters do bank transfers now?"
