Fans of Coronation Street were in for a shock tonight as a dead character 'returned' to the soap.
Geoff Metcalfe, played by played by Ian Bartholomew, made an unusual appearance following the the Cobbles character's death back in 2020. Before his death, he was in a relationship with Yasmeen Nazir and subjected her to periods of shocking domestic abuse.
Not long before his demise, Yasmeen finally snapped and stabbed Geoff with a wine bottle. Geoff miraculously recovered but Yasmeen faced more turmoil as she was arrested for attempted murder.

She was later cleared of the charges and their fall outs continued. During a later confrontation with Yasmeen, Geoff fell off the roof of No.6 and died on impact.
Tonight's episode began by showing Geoff 'returning' to the soap as he continued to torment Yasmeen. She had had trouble sleeping due to horrific nightmares of his abuse.
Fans were horrified to see the dead character back on their screens and took to Twitter. Pete said: "Good old Geoff he won't leave Yasmeen alone even beyond the grave #corrie." Another user said: "Ding Dong Geoff is Back #Corrie."
Calli said: "I CANNOT get over Geoff returning #Corrie" Hasan said: "When the first scene of #coronationstreet shows Yasmeen having a nightmare with Geoff in it....was a nightmare whenever he was actually there! #Corrie #ITV." Callum said: "Didn't expect Ian Bartholomew to be back on my screen, even if it's just for a cameo."
