Coronation Street fans were left stunned during the latest scenes on the soap as a heartbroken Toyah Battersby headed to the hospital and ended up confronting Abi Franklin after she discovered her son Alfie was the result of a one night stand with her fiance Imran Habeeb. The fresh drama began on the cobbles on Friday when Toyah revealed at her adoption hearing with Imran that he had been cheating on her and had a secret baby with their drug addict neighbour Abi.
She told the social worker that she couldn't go through with the adoption of their foster child Elsi with Imran, giving up her latest chance of becoming a mum. Then during Monday night's episode (April 4), after speaking to her sister Leanne, Toyah decided to adopt Elsie on her own. But she was left heartbroken when she was turned down by the social worker who said it wouldn't be in Elsie's 'best interests' while Toyah is going through a split.

It means that Elsie will be found a new adoptive family and at the end of the episode, Toyah was seen trying to explain to the little girl that Imran wouldn't be living with them and that she'll soon be with her 'forever family'.
However, earlier in the episode, Toyah confronted Abi with the new mum arriving at the hospital to find Toyah looking through the window at her premature son.
Despite having been helping her before she found out about her and Imran, Toyah lashed out and told Abi that she isn't a fit mother and doesn't deserve to have Alfie as her child. "Who are you trying to fool? You won't take proper care of him," the tearful Underworld worker and councilor said.
"I'm sure you'll put on a great performance for the judge but when you get bored or fancy a line, he'll be sat crying in the pram. And you'll just get back on the merry-go-round. You're not fit to look after a baby."
As Toyah's outburst continued, Corrie fans were quickly taking to social media to call out Toyah for her change in attitude whilst also reminding her of her own past.
"Got whiplash from that change in attitude," @tremaynepengelly said.

"My heart hurts for Toyah because she's wanted a baby of her own for so long but she also lied to Peter and tried to pass off Eva's baby as their own. But while many argued about whether Toyah was in the right or wrong having a go at Abi, others were questioning her ability to get so close to Alfie and made a sinister prediction.
