ITV Coronation Street fans full of praise for Amy Barlow star but point out error in upsetting scenes

Coronation Street fans were left praising Elle Mulvaney for her latest scenes as Amy Barlow in the ITV soap. Viewers have known for weeks that it was Max Turner behind her terrifying spiking ordeal.

Back in February viewers saw the 18-year-old a bit tipsy as she headed into Weatherfield High's Valentine's Day dance. She arrived with an equally tipsy Asha Alahan, as well as pal Summer Spellman and Asha's brother Aadi was already there. But she was keen to leave to head to a club and meet new boyfriend Jacob Hay.

While the others weren't so sure, the decision was soon made for them when teacher - and Amy's uncle - Daniel Osbourne noticed Asha swaying and worked out she and Amy had been drinking and kicked them out. So Amy necked the remainder of her drink and headed off, meeting up with Jacob at the club who had a fake ID for Asha and Summer had already bailed.

But as the daughter of Steve and Tracy McDonald made her way into the venue, she appeared worse for wear and had to grip onto a barrier to walk herself in. And the former drugs runner was later begging for help as his girlfriend collapsed onto the floor.

After recovering from the ordeal, Amy has been struggling to cope and unbeknownst to Amy and her pals, Max was the one responsible after she picked up the drink that had been laced with it meant for Daniel. He later discovered the mix-up after Daniel shoved Max out of his flat, and down the stairs, after he found him ransacking his home in revenge for the teacher telling him about his father David Platt being raped.

But Amy's uncle was forced into keeping quiet as Max threatened to send Daniel down for the push down the stairs, which had led to him being hospitalised, if he didn't keep quiet.

In Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles, Amy was seen obsessing over something on her phone while having breakfast with her mum, Tracy, in the café. She then rushed off, saying "I knew it" and we later saw the terrified teen assume Brett, a fellow student, was responsible for putting her in hospital due to his admiring glances.

This led to Amy confronting her fellow student and when he denied her accusations, she lashed out and ended up throwing a cup of coffee over him. All of this was witnessed by Max and he later found Amy and Asha in the café and confessed.

But Corrie viewers were quick to point out an issue with Amy's drink throwing scenes.

@ItsAlitha tweeted: "His back is dry .. didn't she pour drink over him? #Corrie."

"Amy chucks a cup of hot coffee over Brett. He’s not scolded but coffee goes over his hair, shirt and anorak. Yet in the scene hair is dry and he has a clean shirt and anorak on," Susan Field wrote on Facebook.

Rowan S. Baker echoed: "Interesting when she threw the cup of coffee over the back of the boy in the next shot his coat was completely dry. Opps!"

"So impressed with Amy but wish the scene with her throwing her drink at the kid’s back would’ve shown the effect it had on him when he turned around (his hair & jacket were dry)," Gaileen Des Harnais added.

Corrie fans, however, weren't too distracted to heap praise on Amy actress Elle. @mishybabez_ tweeted: "Poor Amy @ElleJMulvaney is doing brilliant in this storyline #Corrie."

@chilsie0 wrote: "Elle Mulvaney’s acting is superb."

"I just love Amy she is such a wonderful actress. Fabulous," @cynthiakalloo shared.

@hinceharry2920 commented: "What a performance ElleJ you are an asset to Corrie the world's best soap."

And the kind comments didn't go unnoticed as Elle, 20, took to Twitter and said: "Thank you for all the lovely comments on tonight’s ep! #Corrie."
