Coronation Street fans think that there will be justice for Roy Cropper after 'working out' the real reason for Cerberus' tragic death. The tears were flowing for viewers of the ITV soap earlier this week when they watched Evelyn Plummer having to say a heartbreaking goodbye to her trusty companion.
During Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles (March 22), Evelyn finally heeded her family's advice and whisked her pooch off to the vets to be checked out after he refused to eat his favourite tea and appeared less than his usual self.. The vet had clear concern for the greyhound and later confirmed Cerberus was suffering from kidney failure.
He told Evelyn that her companion was unlikely to improve due his age and the kindest thing would be to put him to sleep. Evelyn finally agreed to the devastating move and viewers watched as Tyrone said his goodbyes while Evelyn remained with Cerberus until the very end.
Corrie fans flocked to social media to comment on the emotional scenes, with some complaining it was 'too much' as they reflected on their own pet losses while others applauded the soap, and particularly Evelyn actress Maureen Lipman and her four-legged co-star.
Others mocked Roy, branding him 'Britain's most wanted' after he was blamed for Cerberus' death after not picking up an Eccles cake from the floor in the cafe before the dog seemingly got hold of it.
But soap fans aren't the most trusting of characters who have done wrong in the past and it appears they think Evelyn's granddaughter Hope Stape is to blame. @GeorgiaBowring tweeted: "#Corrie Hope killed Cerberus! I’m telling you all!" @TraylorHolmes shared: "Don’t tell me it was Hope that poisoned the dog… #Corrie."
@fussyMcWhiskers posted: "#Corrie I'm wondering if Roy's Eccles cake isn't the reason why Cerberus died. I wonder if it was Hope poisoning him…" @GeorgiaBowring added: "#Corrie Hang on a minute! Could Hope have poisoned Cerberus? She already killed her own pet Chinchilla and tried to blame Beth & Kirk’s dog!"
