ITV Coronation Street fans fear for Audrey as they 'work out' death twist

Coronation Street fans were left emotional earlier this week when Audrey Roberts bravely told her friends that she had attempted to take her own life. Viewers had wondered what had happened after the character, played by Sue Nicholls, ended up in hospital and hid the stay from her family.

She then visited her GP, Dr Gaddass, who quizzed Audrey and prescribed her anti-depressants but un scenes aired in the ITV soap on Monday (August 16), the street stalwart found the time to speak out as enjoyed a catch-up with pals Ken Barlow, Rita Tanner, Roy Cropper and Claudia Colby over afternoon tea.

As she admitted to attempting to take her own life, her friends were left shocked and in typical soap timing, the restaurant of one of Debbie Webster's fancy hotels went dark and a waiter appeared with a cake singing happy birthday. Once the theatrics were over, Audrey explained that her 'nosy neighbour' had found her collapsed after taking sleeping tablets.

Later, after returning home from their afternoon tea, the group rallied to make a plan to look after her as Audrey was seen heading back to her old salon and made another big step by taking her prescribed medication for the first time. And during Wednesday night's trip to the cobbles, viewers saw Audrey enjoying getting her salon ready for reopening.

Her son Stephen Reid also made an appearance and showed concern for his mother. While she told him that she had been to hospital but it wasn't anything serious, it turned out he already knew the truth and later confronted the hairdresser about whether she was trying to fulfill plans on her "bucket list".

Back at daughter Gail's house, number 8 Coronation Street, Audrey gave great-grandson Max Turner a £50 note to thank him for helping her get the salon spick and span, while Stephen watched on. The character, played by Todd Boyce, then once again tried to get his mum to sign the forms for the trust funds that he was supposed to be put in charge of but Audrey fobbed him off.

And recently viewers have come to conclude that Stephen must be short of money, having even been seen using his wife's credit card, and are sure he's after his mum's inheritance. But following their conversation in the salon, Corrie fans are worried things could become more sinister and believe Audrey is in danger.

He was just biding his time before moving in for the kill. #Corrie."

@VampLover27 shared: "I can visualise Stephen sabotaging something in the salon to electrocute Audrey #Corrie." @F1JuniorDragon grimly predicted: "I reckon Audrey might die on opening day of the salon #Corrie." @ASuperGav added: "Creepy Stephen still around to work on Audrey’s will and testament #Corrie."
