Coronation Street fans were horrified as Chesney Brown agreed to let his son Joseph go to start a new life with his grandmother in Portugal.
The father-of-five has been struggling to meet ends meet while raising 10-year-old Joseph and his two-year-old quads with partner Gemma Winter.
Joseph's posh granny Linda recently arrived in Weatherfield for a visit.

Clocking that the family are hard-up, she offered to let the boy live with her, and Joseph said he wanted to go.
Joseph is Chesney's son with his late ex Katy Armstrong, who died in a car accident in Portugal in 2017 after moving away with Joseph to live with her mum.
After his mum's tragic death, Joseph was returned to Chesney's care but the devastated dad has been faced with an agonising dilemma as he considered his son's future.
And in heartbreaking scenes, the kebab shop worker decided it was for the best if he did go back with Linda.
"It's his choice, best to rip the plaster off quick," Chesney said miserably.
And Gemma was fuming with him, saying: "Don't be so cold."
"What's the point he wants to go," said Chesney.
"It's not about you and me Gemma for once I'm putting Joseph first."
Bur Corrie viewers were disgusted with his decision and took to Twitter to express their anger.
@captainpoll wrote: "Chesney storyline is outrageous."
@ElvisyGary said: "Oh no!! What nonsense. As if a parent would give their child away."
@BantamSilver fumed: "Chesney is a moron. Just ask Linda for some financial support."
@telly_watcher complained: "You can’t give your child away. Ridiculously out of character storyline …. Again."
@KeithSimons9 said asked: "What you doing Chesney ffs."
@DanHarvey74 exclaimed: "Chesney about as emotionally engaged as if he were throwing away an old jumper not losing his son!"
@j_raff2021 said with a broken heart emoji: "Poor Joseph."
And @IAmSamJMartin fumed: "That’s it Chesney you kick the kid out the door."
However there was more drama as Chesney realised he's made the worst decision of his life.
Joseph's cousin Hope revealed that he hadn't really wanted to leave and there was a last-minute dash to the airport to stop him from flying off.
"You're just tired and skint and a bit narky," said a forgiving Joseph as Chesney vowed to be a better dad.
