ITV Coronation Street Ellie Leach declares love for co-star after emotional exit

Ellie Leach declared her love for her co-star after her emotional exit aired on Coronation Street.

The soap star's stint as Faye Windass came to an end in the latest episode as she bid farewell to Weatherfield. Ellie joined the cast in 2011 and her onscreen counterpart has endured a rollercoaster time on the Cobbles.

The character was largely involved in storylines with Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker on the ITV show. Colson appeared on Lorraine last week and said Ellie's exit feels strange as they have grown up on the show together.

He said: "We worked together as kids, we went to tutoring, so went to school together. Now I've gone through her leaving and supported her through that."

Ellie has taken to Instagram and penned a heartfelt tribute to her former co-star. She said: "To my best friend, Where to even begin, starting this job at 9 years old I didn't know what to expect, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would meet someone who would become one of the most special people in my life.

"You really are one in a million, I’ve never met anyone quite like you and I'm so blessed to call you my best mate, just don't go getting another fiancé too quickly okay! Thank you for everything Colson Smith, everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve done together, I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for you. I love you and I always will. Craye forever."

Former Corrie star, Lucy Fallon, took to the comments in tears after the tribute. She said: "Why am I fully sobbing x"

Sally Ann Matthew, who plays Jenny Bradley on Corrie, said: "I’m going to miss your gorgeous face x"

Stacey posted: "Aww I'm crying reading this both worked so well together but you've got a friend for life @ellielouiseleach good luck with your next journey."

Lyndsey added: "Omg this is too much."
