ITV bosses not allowing Boy George to return to the UK before I'm A Celebrity final

ITV bosses have reportedly refused to let Boy George fly home to the UK before I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! final airs on Sunday night.

The popstar isn't keen on hanging around Australia until the show ends, and would rather head back to the UK with his family. The Culture Club star has snubbed ITV's post-exit interviews that usually take place with stars once they leave the jungle, and was missing from Wednesday mornings shows.

Sources close to the Karma Chameleon star told MailOnline : "He wanted to go home immediately, he doesn't want to hang around. If he had his way he would be on a plane already but he wasn't allowed to do that."

"His aim of going into the jungle was for the world to see the stripped back version of him, no hair, makeup, costumes, or hats – he didn't actually care how far he went in the competition.

"The fact he has to stay in Australia for days now is an annoyance to him, he isn't fussed about sticking around for the final but that's what he has to do.

"He's travelled across the world his entire career and has seen Australia before so there's really no reason for him to be here, especially as he isn't concerned with catching up with his co-stars on the other side."

Boy George is the fourth story to be voted out of the jungle (ITV)

During his time in the jungle he accused his campmates of not 'being themselves' but when quizzed by Ant and Dec about who he was referring to, he refused to comment.

He also threatened to quit the show altogether when Hancock arrived, telling viewers if his unwell mother had passed during the pandemic, he would have walked from the series.

The singing sensation was the first male contestant to walk along the rope bridge and wave goodbye to the jungle - following Scarlette Douglas, Sue Cleaver and Charlene White before him.

All of the other contestants have given interviews on breakfast TV the morning after their exits. Scarlette Douglas and Sue Cleaver appeared on Good Morning Britain from sunny Australia, while Charlene White spoke with her co-hosts in the Loose Women studio.

An I'm A Celebrity insider told The Mirror : "It is thought Boy George won't do his first interview until he gets back to UK next week. The singer has teased he has lots to say so fans will be waiting for what's sure to be an explosive run down of his time in camp in full."

During his exit interview on I'm a Celeb, with Ant and Dec, Boy George said: "Being really honest, I am happy to go today. It's not something I thought I would ever do but it's a lot tougher than I thought. I think it really makes you appreciate what you have and the people that you love.”

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight on STV at 9pm.
