Frank Lampard insisted the "effort" is there in Everton's dressing room as he was left coming to terms with mistakes on the pitch.
Speaking after his side slumped to a late defeat in their crucial trip to Burnley, he said: "The effort is there, belief will always be tested. You can see the players are disappointed at the end. There are realities in football, if you make mistakes you'll concede."
His words followed a dramatic 90 minutes in which Everton came from behind to take lead their relegation rivals through two Richarlison penalties.
