'It tastes like you're being poisoned!' - Matt Hancock and Boy George tackle I'm A Celeb eating task

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! fans will be treated to the sight of Boy George gagging on plums. The pop star was chosen alongside former Tory health secretary Matt Hancock to take on the first eating trial of the series.

And in a clip shared by ITV, Boy George - who is being allowed to eat vegetarian items in the task - is seen taking on a plate of fermented plums. Tucking in gamely, he can be heard gagging on the fourth before telling hosts Ant and Dec: "It tastes like perfume.

"It tastes like you are being poisoned. It’s really disgusting but I can eat anything."

MP Hancock, meanwhile, can be seen looking on with apparent concern awaiting his own mystery dish. The task takes place in a Mexican-themed jungle cafe, complete with Mariachi music.

The cafe is named La Cucaracha, or The Cockroach. The task is Hancock's third straight since joining the show.

He arrived in camp as a "surprise" late entry alongside Seann Walsh. His decision to join the show led to considerable criticism and led to him having the Tory whip removed.

This is his third trial. In the Beastly Burrow he crawled through dark tunnels and waded through sludge, while the Tentacles of Terror saw him trapped in an octopus-shaped cage partially submerged underwater.

He was asked about his resignation as health secretary by his campmates on Thursday. Hancock said he had quit because he understood how people felt about him, after CCTV footage proving his extra-marital relationship with aide Gina Coladangelo was leaked.

TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas told him as they did chores around the camp: “It was hard. A lot of people had difficult times. And then to see that people that had kind of set the rules had then broken them, I think was a big slap in the face for everyone.”

Later, speaking to comedian Babatunde Aleshe, Hancock said life had been “really tough” after his affair became public, adding: “I messed up and I fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right? That also had a lot of other consequences obviously.”
