Leeds United's Patrick Bamford will miss the Whites upcoming friendly against Elche in Spain after it emerged the forward will undergo groin surgery.
The England international has endured a torrid spell of injuries over the last two seasons, with a hip issue meaning he missed Leeds' last two pre-World Cup Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur.
While the rest of the Leeds squad is out in Spain, Bamford is set to undergo surgery in Munich for a procedure on his inguinal canal.

LeedsLive's Beren Cross understands the Whites do not anticipate Bamford being out for very long following the surgery, with the club expecting to have the 29-year-old available for their first domestic game back in action against Manchester City.
Alongside Bamford's surgery, left-back Junior Firpo is also undergoing treatment for a groin strain he picked up at Thorp Arch on Friday. The strain is a minor one, which means he should be available for the friendly next week against Elche.
While the injury news surrounding the two Leeds players is not major, it is unfortunate that the pair continue to suffer injury after injury.
Both Bamford and Firpo have experienced plenty of time on the sidelines over the last two seasons, which has left some Leeds supporters on social media frustrated...
@LeedsAllOver tweeted: "Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo injured yet again. Could it be any more obvious what is needed heading into January?"
@JackTPearson tweeted: "That's Bamford's time here at Leeds done then"
@stevejbradshaw tweeted: "It’s not Bamford's fault the club didn’t invest in backup. Injuries are an unfortunate part of football and he will be just a gutted to not get going"
@ianscaife1 tweeted: "So the 2 positions that needed filling in the summer are still needed to be filled even more so now"
@JoshAHobbs tweeted: "We knew we had an injury prone striker and LB in the summer and didn’t sign anybody in either position. It’s wild."
