It's Not My Usual Style, But I've Found Myself Completely Taken By John Derian's New Target Collection

An eight product box image of various thanksgiving table decor items from the John Derian x Target collab. There are things like asparagus candle sticks, cabbage plates, pear-shaped dessert plates, and green coupe glasses. .

Thanksgiving is all but here, and I (and my appetite) could not be more excited. Though you likely already have your interiors decked for fall, have you thought of your Thanksgiving table? Like really thought about it? This year, the tabletop trend is for quirky pieces that strike conversation between guests, and I've just found the best thing for it: renowned decoupage artist John Derian's latest collection with Target.

Since 1989, John and a handful of artisans in New York have been creating decorative home items with images from his vast collection of 18th and 19th-century prints. His designs are coveted all over the world, and now you can have them on your Thanksgiving table. His collaboration with Target last year was quick to sell out (and this year's is headed in the same direction).

With affordable price points (for now — some pieces from his last collection are reselling on eBay for more than seven times the original price) it's easy to fall in love, even if this isn't your typical style. "You don't have to be a maximalist to love John Derian's quirky curation of home decor," says Livingetc's editor in chief Jessica Cumberbatch-Anderson. "If you've ever been to his shop in NYC, it's like stepping into a storybook forest or a Victorian-era secret garden. His vintage, nature-inspired illustrations are less kitsch than you'd imagine when rendered in muted jewel tones, or cast in materials like stoneware or glass."

But in case you missed it, kitsch is actually cool again. And perhaps a pear-shaped plate or a candle fashioned into an artichoke is just what your fall table decor is currently missing? Don't worry, I questioned myself too, but now I'm head-over-heels for the asparagus-shaped taper candles, and can see them becoming a mainstay at any dinner party I host.

While, yes, there are certainly some pieces that I'm still not 100% sold on, I've shared my shopping list of the nine most stylish selects below. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.
