'It's not going to work...': Pat Cummins after Sunrisers Hyderabad succumb to 35-run loss vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru

NEW DELHI: Despite their reputation for scoring over 250 runs three times this season, Sunrisers Hyderabad's in-form batting lineup fell short and managed only 171 for eight in 20 overs. The defeat marked SRH's third loss in eight matches.

Opting to bat first against the Orange Army, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who were desperate for a much-needed win, rode on Rajat Patidar's explosive half-century, Virat Kohli's magnificent knock, and a strong performance from the spinners to secure a 35-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, ending their six-game losing streak.

This win was crucial for RCB, who had lost seven of their previous eight games.

After the defeat, SRH skipper Pat Cummins lamented the loss against the bottom-placed RCB.

"Not an ideal night. Few over par with the ball and unfortunately lost a few wickets throughout our innings. We were gonna bat first, it seems to be working for us. Before the last few wins, we were thinking that we were a bowl-first team. Didn't go our way. (Message to the group) I speak after wins, Dan (Vettori) speaks after losses," Cummins said after the match.

"The boys have been doing really well, it's T20 cricket, you are not going to win every game. Don't dwell on this too much. (High risk, high reward approach with the bat) I think it's our strong suit. It's not going to work every game. One or two games where it hasn't gone our way at the start, we still managed to get a good total. Still think this is the way forward for our boys," the SRH skipper said.

Sunrisers will next face Chennai Super Kings on April 28.
