Andre Gomes has bid an emotional farewell to Everton after completing his move to Lille.
The 29-year-old’s season-long loan was confirmed on Thursday evening - just minutes before the 11pm transfer deadline - after falling down the pecking order following the arrivals of James Garner and Idrissa Gueye. Gomes was used sparingly in Frank Lampard’s battle against relegation last season and is yet to feature so far this campaign.
The two deadline day signings joined the likes of Amadou Onana as summer midfield reinforcements, with a rejuvenated Alex Iwobi, Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure - currently injured - all ahead of the Portuguese midfielder in Lampard’s plans. And after his last-gasp move to France, Gomes bid farewell to Evertonians.

He tweeted: “Evertonians, it's not easy to explain how I feel. It was love at the first sight since day one at @Everton and I’ve always felt your unconditional support. You’ve made me feel part of this great family and I’ll take you in my heart.
“Wish you the best.
“Thank you!”
Gomes spent four seasons on Merseyside, initially spending a season on loan from Barcelona before making his move permanent in the summer of 2019. He made exactly 100 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, scoring two goals and adding seven assists.
