Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka engaged in an inappropriate consensual relationship with a female staff member according to multiple reports published on Thursday.
It is widely expected the Celtics will suspend Udoka for the entire 2022-23 season as punishment.
This story has been emerging since Wednesday night. Initial reports from ESPN, the Athletic and elsewhere dropped in quick succession late Wednesday. Throughout the day on Thursday, fans on social media speculated wildly — not just about the looming suspension and its aftermath, but also about what other member of the Celtics organization was part of the story.
Numerous allegations, theories and falsified rumors were spread far and wide, with several women being named despite the absence of any concrete reporting or supporting evidence. This sort of glorified gossip is dangerous and destructive.
