'Tis the season to draw inspiration from Martha Stewart. I'm joking – every season offers an opportunity to learn from the original influencer, but arguably no time brings her expertise to life like the holidays.
Last year, just before Christmas Day, Martha shared a photo of the tabletop tree she dressed in her iconic Bedford farmhouse, and (almost) 12 months later, it remains just as inspiring.
As a celebrity style editor, I often see Christmas trees that are immensely impressive, both in terms of their size and luxury ornaments. While they're beautiful to see, they can feel hard to replicate in my own small apartment. You can imagine, then, that Martha's table-top tree (similar to this one from Target) was a welcome sight when it first graced my feed. Now, as the holidays come around again, I can finally recreate it in my own home.

This artificial tree lets you capture Martha Stewart’s signature style year after year. Unlike a real tree, which lasts for just one holiday season, this one will bring festive charm to many Decembers to come. Set it on a table in your living room to recreate her iconic look.

For an elevated alternative, I love this shimmery wreath from Williams Sonoma. If placed on a door, the silver bells will ring lightly as the door moves, creating a festive soundtrack to your decor. It looks very similar to one hanging behind Martha's tree.

These 50 mini ball ornaments come in assorted green shades and finishes, adding lively color without overwhelming a small tree. Each ornament has a gold-tone cap with a matching loop for easy hanging, and the shatter-resistant design makes them perfect for homes with kids or pets.
Of all her Christmas decorations, Martha's tabletop tree stands out as my firm favorite (as I'm dealing with limited space). However, if space isn't a huge concern for you, you can still replicate her look in a room that craves some festivity alongside your larger tree. I can picture something similar in an office or in a dining room. You can also draw inspiration from her classic green and gold palette.
'Here is a green tabletop tree in my sitting room. The ornaments feature various shades of green and gold,' Martha says. While she is capable of creating any elaborate display, this petite tree is a reminder that elegance doesn’t require excess.
'I try to vary the holiday decorations in my home. I always use lots of trees – silver, green, or gold in every room,' she adds. 'I always try to display them differently each time. In my Brown Room, silver trees [like these from Amazon] decorate the dining table with ornaments and glass icicles on every branch.
Compact enough to fit on a table in homes of any size (trust me), Martha’s Christmas tree exemplifies a festive look that is both sophisticated and effortlessly attainable. Will you be following her example? I know I will be.
