A HISTORIC Stroud property that includes its own church is on the market for the first time in 50 years.
Telegherry House is listed for sale with R&R Property's Denise Haynes who is guiding $1.9 million to $2.09 million.
The property at 515 The Bucketts Way spans 36 acres and was originally established by the Australian Agricultural Company as a manager's residence, according to the agent.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom homestead was built circa 1832, with original features such as the bullnose veranda's wrought iron lacework, decorative plasterwork, patterned glass, timber fretwork and French doors with its original fittings all perfectly preserved.
The large kitchen with the home's original brick hearth also provides a glimpse into the home's past.
"The house was built as a manager's residence, so it was very well to do for its time and I've been told that they used to have beautiful garden parties at the home," Mrs Haynes said.
In addition to the homestead, the property also has a church that was built in 1902 and operated as a Presbyterian Church until the 1950s.
It remains in pristine condition with the inclusion of the original church organ, the altar and the pews.
The owners have maintained the church however, it has not been used for events despite requests from the public to host wedding ceremonies.
"People have asked but the owners have never done that so we're aiming to get someone to purchase it as a wedding venue because we just think it's perfect for that.
"There is the church, the beautiful mature gardens and the views are amazing, too. There's also the homestead and it has all been so well preserved.
"It's like a time capsule."
The agent said she had been "overrun" with enquiry since the property went live last week.
"There is a lot of enquiry coming in from Sydney with buyers looking to run it as a wedding venue or as an art gallery space as well.
"Because there are 36 acres, you could also put cabins on the property so it lends itself to that as well with the views and everything else it has to offer.
"Because we're only two-and-a-half hours away, we're finding that people from Sydney just love it."
The property also includes farm shedding comprising stabling areas, stockyards, dams and a bore which makes the former dairy farm also ideal for livestock.
Inspection of the property is available by private appointment.
