Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish believes Christian Pulisic could find a new lease of life at Newcastle United. Reports have linked the United States international with a move to Tyneside in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old only started 10 Premier League games for Chelsea last season and Raheem Sterling’s arrival is likely to dilute those numbers further. It is no secret that Newcastle are aiming to strengthen their frontline before the transfer window slams shut.
Blues teammates Callum Hudson-Odoi, Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher are also understood to be on the Toon’s radar. However, Pulisic - arguably the most talented US footballer of his generation - would be the pick of the bunch and has attracted interest from Manchester United.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish thinks joining the Magpies could alleviate the pressure Pulisic endures at Stamford Bridge. He said: “Is he similar to Almiron? He’s not so much a centre-forward, more of a number 10 or he comes in from the wide areas.
“These are the types of players Newcastle will be looking at. Pulisic has not made the impact you thought he might when Klopp had him at Dortmund. Klopp thought he had everything.
“He hasn’t made a massive impact with Chelsea, even though when he does come on you think ‘wow. this guy catches the eye’. Maybe there is less pressure in going to a club like Newcastle, it might help him.”
