'IT failure' strands British Airways passengers at Heathrow

British Airways is currently experiencing a 'technical issue' resulting in delays for passengers and difficulties for staff. BA has issued a statement regarding apologising for the inconvenience as they work on a solution.

Reports suggest passengers are experiencing delays at its Heathrow Terminal 5 base with customers facing difficulty checking in and boarding their flights. The company was forced into making a statement after a number of passengers complained on social media.

One user on Twitter said: "Good to see @British_Airways on top of their IT systems again… Currently sat on plane @BELFASTCITY_AIR with no idea of departure. All flight plans “disappeared” according to the pilot, and no BA planes in or out of @HeathrowAirport."

The statement from BA said: "We're investigating and working hard to resolve a technical issue and apologise for the inconvenience. We will provide further updates as quickly as possible."
