Israeli Missile Strike Kills 17, Including Children, In Gaza

Smoke rises over Gaza, as seen from Israel's border with Gaza, in southern Israel

The Gaza Civil Defense Directorate has reported that at least 17 people, including women and children, were killed in a devastating Israeli missile strike that took place on Saturday in central Gaza. Among the deceased were eight children, and over 30 individuals sustained injuries in the attack. Additionally, there are still individuals unaccounted for following the strike.

The strike targeted Al-Zaytoun School, which was serving as a shelter for thousands of displaced individuals from the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood located southeast of Gaza City. The Civil Defense spokesman, Mahmoud Basal, confirmed the tragic incident and highlighted the impact on innocent civilians.

On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces have stated that their aircraft conducted a strike on a school compound in central Gaza that was allegedly being used by Hamas as a command center. The military claimed that the strike was a precise operation targeting terrorists who were operating within a Hamas command and control center. They also mentioned that various precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties.

This latest escalation in violence between Israel and Gaza has once again resulted in a tragic loss of life, particularly affecting innocent women and children. The ongoing conflict continues to take a toll on the civilian population, with both sides facing criticism for the impact of their military actions on non-combatants.
