A quarter of Lebanese territory is currently under Israeli military displacement orders, as reported by the United Nations. This development highlights the escalating humanitarian crisis and the widening scope of Israel's conflict with Hezbollah.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued a situation update on Wednesday, expressing deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Lebanon. The report noted that Israeli airstrikes have not only increased in intensity but have also expanded to previously unaffected areas, targeting vital civilian infrastructure.
More than 100 villages and urban neighborhoods in southern Lebanon have been affected by displacement orders, compelling residents to flee their homes. The ongoing evacuation orders have disrupted the lives of numerous individuals and families across the region.
Recently, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued new evacuation orders for specific buildings in the Haret Hreik and Hadath areas of Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut known as a Hezbollah stronghold. The IDF stated its intention to target these locations in the near future.
The situation in Lebanon remains precarious, with the conflict showing no signs of abating. The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, with civilians bearing the brunt of the escalating violence and displacement.
