On Friday, the Israeli military reported the detection of approximately 10 projectiles launched from Lebanon towards Haifa, the largest city in northern Israel, as well as nearby communities. The Israel Defense Forces stated that some of the projectiles were successfully intercepted, while others were confirmed to have landed in open areas.
Fortunately, there were no reports of damage resulting from the incident. However, shrapnel from one of the interceptions was found in an open area close to Kfar Hasidim, located approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers) from Haifa, according to an Israeli police spokesperson. Authorities in the area were conducting assessments to determine if any damage had occurred.
In response to recent Israeli actions and in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, Hezbollah released a statement claiming responsibility for launching strikes on a settlement in the Haifa region using Fadi-1 rockets. The group cited its actions as a defensive measure in support of Lebanon.
