As the Israeli military continues its week-long operation battling hundreds of terrorists holed up inside Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical center in Gaza, the World Health Organization (WHO) has refrained from condemning the cynical use of the hospital by Palestinian terror groups. Despite repeated requests for comment from Fox News Digital, the WHO has remained silent as the Israel Defense Forces engage with fighters from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad inside the hospital.
Itamar Yaar, a former deputy head of Israel’s National Security Council, highlighted that Hamas has admitted to using almost every hospital in Gaza, including Al-Shifa Hospital, for its military activities. Israel discovered a subterranean system beneath the hospital, including a command and control center, during the conflict.
Israeli forces have killed around 170 terrorists and arrested more than 500 during the operation at Al-Shifa Hospital. The army also found 11 million shekels ($3 million) hidden in the hospital’s offices, along with weapons and ammunition. Top operatives from Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas were among those apprehended.
Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari stated that no patients or medical staff were harmed during the operation. Claims of abuse and rape by Israeli soldiers were dismissed as fake by Al-Jazeera News network. Tal Mimran from Hebrew University emphasized that hospitals should be protected during war but noted that Hamas has been using them for military purposes.
Despite the sensitive nature of operating in hospitals, the IDF has attempted to conduct its operations respectfully. The recent operation at Al-Shifa Hospital was described as meeting the criteria of international humanitarian law with minimal collateral damage and no harm to medical staff or patients.
